From Dairy Farm to Arboriculture Expert
Philip brings a wealth of experience and genuine passion for arboriculture to his role as Office Manager at Elite Arboriculture. His journey began on a dairy farm, where he developed a deep appreciation for the land and environment that continues to drive his work today.
Educational Background & Early Career
After studying Arboriculture at WINTEC in Hamilton, Philip spent over two decades perfecting his craft as an arborist throughout the Wellington Region and lower North Island. His expertise has taken him from the treetops of local councils – including New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, and Kapiti – to the forests of Canada, where he spent a year climbing and expanding his skills internationally.
Two Decades of Arboriculture Excellence
Philip’s extensive background includes both hands-on climbing work and management roles, giving him a comprehensive understanding of arboriculture from every angle. For over 3 years, he has successfully run his own gardening and design business while also working as a contract climber with Elite Arboriculture, making him intimately familiar with both the operational and business sides of the industry.

What sets Philip apart is his unwavering commitment to nature preservation and environmental stewardship. He believes in doing what’s best for both trees and the environment, always striving to help clients achieve the very best outcomes for their trees whilst maintaining ecological balance.
Life Beyond the Office
When he’s not managing office operations, Philip can be found exploring Aotearoa’s stunning landscapes through tramping, navigating waterways via whitewater and sea kayaking, mountain biking, or running through the Hemi Matanga reserve. These outdoor pursuits fuel his connection to nature and inform his professional approach to tree care.
Based on the Kapiti Coast with his young family, Philip is excited to work alongside Elite Arboriculture’s dedicated team of arborists who share his commitment to excellence in tree care and environmental responsibility.
